Trent Ensley joined the North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) in July 2023 to support North Carolina businesses as afederal Business Development Professional. In this role he connects North Carolina businesses and organizations to relevant Department of Defense and federal business opportunities; identifies lucrative and attractive solicitations and provides this information to NC businesses; helps match North Carolina capabilities with federal requirements; and helps North Carolina companies prepare, present and execute strategies to win federal business. 

Trent comes to the team with over 30 years of experience at the federal and local government levels.  While in the US Army, he served various assignments in the Field Artillery and the Army Acquisition Corps, including service as a contracting officer on the teams supporting the M109 Paladin Howitzer program and US Marine Corps/US Army Joint Lightweight Howitzer program as well as managing infrastructure modernization projects at Army ammunition plants.  

Following his military service, Trent held several positions as a contracting officer or procurement manager with the US Postal Service and Department of Housing and Urban Development.  He awarded and administered contracts across various commodities including: advertising services; professional, financial and engineering services; information technology contracts supporting Postal Service payment platforms; product and logistics support contracts for mail handling; and the employee assistance contract supporting all career employees.  Trent culminated his career with the Postal Service in Washington, DC as the manager of procurement policy with responsibility for USPS procurement policy initiatives, development of management responses to Office of Inspector General reports, and managed the USPS purchase, travel and fleet credit card programs.  

Immediately before joining the NCMBC, he served as the procurement manager for the Fayetteville Public Works Commission and was responsible for the purchase all products and services necessary to support operation of the utility’s delivery of electric, water and sewer services to the local community.  

Trent earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Western Carolina University and his Master of Science in Management, Acquisition and Contracting, from the US Naval Postgraduate School.  Trent is a native of western North Carolina enjoys spending time outdoors from the mountains of western North Carolina to the beaches.
